Welcome to the Plainfield Township Democratic Organization
The Plainfield Township Democratic Organization (PTDO) advances the causes of the diverse group of people who call themselves "Democrats". We are workers, business owners, teachers, firefighters, policemen, clergy, husbands, wives, parents, and single people who believe that the greatness of America lies in its sense of justice, equality, and its unique ability to afford "the pursuit of happiness" to all. We believe in the power of and reality of the American dream and what it can do for our nation's people. We recognize that there are obstacles to achieving the American dream but that those obstacles can be overcome through personal responsibility, hard work, and a collective sense that an important part of patriotism is supporting and living policies that ensure justice equality of opportunity. We don't believe in big government or in big business. We believe in the immensity of America's promise.
Homecoming Parade
PTDO participated in the 2011 Plainfield Homecoming Parade. We had a good turnout on a beautiful day and were able to show our support for the Democratic party, underscoring the reality that Plainfield isn't Republican territory. Many thanks to the Elected Officials, Candidates, Precinct Committeepersons & supporters who attended! Special recognition go to Bob Howard, Will County Board Member District 1, for the use of his trailer; Elaine & Charlie Bice for space on their property to store the float (plus Elaine's help in getting the supplies to decorate the float); Chris Lunningham, Joliet Precinct Committeewoman (and Illinois Democratic Women volunteer of the year) for providing some of the Officials & Candidate signs; Julia Beckman, Committeewoman 13th District for backing up the group (and the patience in helping us get through Plainfield after the parade); and PTDO Co-Chair John Bilecki (and his family) for providing the vehicle to pull the float!
Larry Walsh Honored
The Will County Democratic Central Committee announced the creation of the Larry Walsh Lifetime Achievement Award to be presented each November as part of the annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner. The award will be given to a Will County Democratic elected official who has provided exemplary service to their party and constituents.
The award’s first recipient will be its namesake, Larry Walsh, Will County executive. Larry has spent over 40 years in public service and has touched countless lives. The PTDO and Will County Democrats in general are extremely grateful for his service and generosity.
The first Larry Walsh Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Larry at the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner on November 3 at the IBEW 176 Hall. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased at www.willcountydemocrats.com.
Congratulations and thank you to Larry.
